The following tips provide suggestions for when identifying the cause of a complaint on the rare occasion that a customer is not happy with their coffee.

Customer Comment:Possible Cause:Solution:
"My coffee is too weak"
  • Coffee dosage too low
  • Re-fill ground coffee chamber
 
  • Bad extraction - coffee too coarse
  • Adjust grind size accordingly
 
  • Too much water used / cup size
  • Use double shot for larger cups
 
  • Water too cold
  • Adjust boiler temperature
"My coffee is too strong"
  • Coffee dosage too high
  • 1 pull = single, 2 pulls = double
 
  • Coffee dosage too fine
  • Adjust grind size accordingly
 
  • Not enough water / cup size
  • Check cup size and water used
"My coffee is bitter"
  • Brewing time too long
  • Apply less pressure when tamping
 
  • Coffee grind too fine
  • Adjust grind size accordingly
 
  • Temperature too high
  • Adjust brewing temperature
 
  • Old stale coffee
  • Replace with fresh coffee beans
Espresso: Very dark Crema
