Americano [am-air-ee-can-o]

The perfect americano should mask the fact the espresso has been added to hot water. The end result is a smooth, powerful coffee which lingers on the palate.

To make an americano you will need;

  • 7g of freshly ground Douwe Egberts espresso beans for 150ml cup
  • Gently warmed 150ml cup


Dispense
80ml of hot water into a cappuccino cup (the espresso will be poured on top of the hot water).

Rest & Dose
Place the filter handle on the grinder and then pull the lever twice (to dispense 14g).

Tap & Tamp
Tap the side of the filter handle to level out the coffee and then compress firmly using an aluminium tamp.

Wipe & Place
Wipe excess coffee from the rim of the filter handle and place it firmly into the brewing head of the espresso machine.

Select
Select a single shot of espresso and place the cup with hot water underneath the group handle.
